Order flowersPorirua – Pari-ā-Rua – is a city of about 60,100 people on the Porirua Inlet, north of Wellington. It has its own community hospital and a cemetery that has held Green Flag status, so get-well and sympathy flowers make up a large part of what people send here. This page brings together what the hospital and council sources say.

Kenepuru Community Hospital accepts flowers. Health New Zealand asks that anything sent to a patient is clearly marked with the patient's name and ward, and gives the address for flowers as Kenepuru Community Hospital, 16 Hospital Drive, Porirua 5022.
A free weekday shuttle connects Kenepuru with Wellington Regional Hospital. If your patient has been moved to Wellington, remember that flowers are not allowed in some areas there – our Wellington Regional Hospital page lists them. Full details for Kenepuru are on our Kenepuru Community Hospital page.
Whenua Tapu Cemetery has held Green Flag status, awarded by Recreation Aotearoa, for four consecutive years as of November 2024. Its chapel and crematorium first opened in 1982 and reopened in November 2021 after earthquake strengthening and refurbishment. Porirua Cemetery is the city's other cemetery in our data.
When a service is held at the Whenua Tapu chapel, ask the funeral director whether flowers should go to the chapel or to the family home. Our guide to sympathy flowers covers what to write and when to send, and our tangihanga guide may help if the farewell is held on a marae.
Put the recipient’s ward, room or the funeral director’s name on the order so the florist can find them.
Busy days book out early, so order ahead for Porirua.
