Order flowersPrebbleton dates from 1855, making it one of the earliest settlements on the Canterbury Plains; it was settled by the Prebble brothers from Kent. Today it sits about 11 km south-west of central Christchurch and about 2 km south of Hornby, on the edge of the Christchurch area, in Selwyn District. The town has grown fast – its 2023 census population was almost double the 2013 figure as new subdivisions were built – and about 5,750 people lived there in June 2025. Here is what helps when sending flowers to Prebbleton.

With so many new subdivisions, some streets may be newer than the maps your florist uses. Give the full street address and postcode exactly as the recipient writes it, and add their phone number so the florist can call if they cannot find the house. For properties on the rural edge, include the RD number where a suburb would normally appear.
New home in Prebbleton? A housewarming bouquet or a potted plant for the new garden is a lovely welcome.
Bupa Ashford Care Home at 8 Brunel Road has 56 beds, with rest home, hospital and dementia levels of care. For a resident, a compact arrangement already in a vase is easier for staff to look after than a loose bouquet. Include the resident's full name, and check with the care home first if the person is unwell. Our guide to hay fever and flowers suggests gentler, lower-pollen choices.
All Saints' Churchyard at 9 Blakes Road is Prebbleton's churchyard cemetery, also known as Prebbleton Anglican Churchyard. It holds the official war grave of Trooper John Morrison Ashworth, who died at Featherston training camp on 12 July 1918. A Prebbleton and Lincoln Cemetery Board was appointed in 1879, and the first burial took place in 1880. For a funeral, send flowers to the funeral director or service venue with the full name of the person who has died and the service date. Our funeral flower etiquette guide helps with the card.
We have no hospital listed in Prebbleton. If the person is in hospital in Christchurch, note that Health New Zealand states flowers are not permitted in the wards or other areas of Christchurch Hospital or Christchurch Women's Hospital. Sending flowers to their Prebbleton home once they are back is the reliable choice. Neighbouring Lincoln is linked to Prebbleton by the Little River Rail Trail, which has a 7 km off-road section between the two.
Put the recipient’s ward, room or the funeral director’s name on the order so the florist can find them.
