Order flowersPicton is the South Island terminal for the Cook Strait ferries to Wellington, 25 km north of Blenheim in Marlborough. Its Māori name, Waitohi, means "waters of the tohi ritual", in which warriors were touched with a karamū branch dipped in the sacred stream. Around 4,850 people live in the urban area (June 2025 estimate), which also takes in Waikawa, just north-east of town. Here is what helps when you send flowers to Picton.

Picton Cemetery at 11 Gravesend Place sits on a hillside on the western side of town and is owned by Marlborough District Council. As well as burial plots, it has an RSA section, burial beams, an ashes wall, a children's beam, a memorial ashes garden and a memorial wall. For a funeral, send flowers to the funeral director or service venue, with the full name of the person who has died and the date and time of the service; for an interment of ashes, ask the family where flowers should go. Our guide to funeral flowers helps with wording.
Waikawa Marae in Picton is the marae of Te Atiawa o Te Waka-a-Māui, with the Arapaoa wharenui. If the farewell is a tangihanga, our guide to tangihanga and condolences explains the customs.
Seaview Rest Home at 8C Seaview Crescent provides aged residential care. For a resident, choose a compact arrangement in a vase or a small potted plant, and include the resident's full name on the order.
We have no hospital listed in Picton. The public hospital in neighbouring Blenheim is Wairau Hospital. The former Nelson Marlborough DHB has advised that patients who are immunocompromised, in isolation, or in the ICU, HDU, IMCU or SCBU (special care baby unit) areas should not receive flowers. The current Health New Zealand page does not mention flowers, so check with the ward before sending.
Cruise ships call at Picton regularly between October and April. The Edwin Fox Maritime Centre holds the Edwin Fox, built in Calcutta in 1853 and the only surviving ship that transported convicts to Australia – a handy landmark if you need to describe a nearby address. Add the recipient's phone number to every order so the florist can arrange a handover. Sending to Marlborough's main town too? See Blenheim.
Put the recipient’s ward, room or the funeral director’s name on the order so the florist can find them.
Busy days book out early, so order ahead for Picton.
