Order flowersWaipukurau is a farming town on the Tukituki River in Central Hawke's Bay, 7 km south of Waipawa and 50 km southwest of Hastings. Dairy, fruit, vegetable and meat exports and seasonal horticulture work underpin local jobs, and the 40th parallel south runs right through the township. About 4,750 people live in the urban area (June 2025 estimate), in the Hawke's Bay region.

Waipukurau has a few green corners with a story. A'Deane Park at 2 Wallace Road is a small traditional park with a playground and gardens, gifted to the Waipukurau Borough Council in 1922 by J B A'Deane in memory of his late mother, to be used as public gardens. Pioneer Corner, at Mt Herbert Road and Tavistock Place, has mature roses and information about early European settlers. Paul Hunter Memorial Park at 38a Nelson Street sits on a hillside in the centre of town, with walking paths through mature trees and views over Waipukurau. A bunch of roses is a natural nod to Pioneer Corner.
Central Hawke's Bay Health Centre at 1 Cook Street is the local public hospital and health centre. We have not found a published flower rule for it, so check with the ward before sending and give the patient's full name. If the person has been admitted to Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers' Memorial Hospital in Hastings, note that Health New Zealand's intensive care page says do not bring flowers; for other wards there, check with the ward first.
Kaylexcare Mt Herbet House at 50 Mount Herbert Road provides aged residential care. For a resident, a compact arrangement in a vase or a potted plant is easiest to look after. Include the resident's full name, and call ahead if they are unwell.
Waipukurau Cemetery is at the corner of Pōrangahau and Lakeview roads and is one of 11 cemeteries managed by Central Hawke's Bay District Council. For a funeral, send flowers to the funeral director or service venue with the full name of the person who has died and the date and time of the service. Waipukurau Marae belongs to the Ngāti Kahungunu hapū Ngāti Whatuiāpiti and Ngāti Tamatea; for a tangihanga, see our guide to tangihanga and condolences.
For farm and rural properties, use the RD number exactly as the recipient writes it; the mailtown is where the rural round is based. Add a phone number and allow extra time, as rural addresses can take longer. Sending to Waipukurau's neighbour as well? See our page for Waipawa.
Put the recipient’s ward, room or the funeral director’s name on the order so the florist can find them.
Busy days book out early, so order ahead for Waipukurau.
