Flowers for Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers' Memorial Hospital
Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, at 398 Omahu Road in Camberley, Hastings, is run by Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora for the Hawke's Bay district. Health NZ has published one flower instruction for the hospital, and it applies to the intensive care unit.
Order by 2 pm on weekdays (11 am Saturdays) for same-day delivery in many areas
- Ward rules quoted from the hospital

No flowers in the intensive care unit (ICU service page). No rule published for other wards; check with the ward.
“Do not bring flowers.”
Intensive care: no flowers
The visitor guidance on the Hawke's Bay intensive care unit (ICU) page is short and direct: "Do not bring flowers." If the person you are thinking of is in ICU, hold the flowers until they move to a ward or go home.
Other wards
No rule has been published for the other wards. That does not mean flowers are always welcome, so check with the ward before sending. The hospital's number is 06 878 8109. Put the patient's full name and ward on the order so it reaches the right bed.
Visiting times by area
- General visiting hours: 1pm to 8pm.
- Acute assessment unit: 11am to 8pm.
- Intensive care unit: by arrangement between 12pm and 2pm, and 4pm to 8:30pm.
If you plan to bring a small bunch in person, the general afternoon and evening hours give you plenty of room to check with the nurses on arrival.
Visits to intensive care are by arrangement, so if your loved one is there, ring ahead before travelling. A card or a short written message can be read to the patient even when flowers cannot go in.
Sending flowers home instead
For a patient coming home to Hastings, Havelock North or Napier, flowers waiting at the house can be a gentler welcome than a crowded bedside. See our pages for flower delivery in Hastings and Napier. Rural addresses in the bay that carry an RD number can take longer, and weekend delivery is limited in many areas, so order early.
Our guide to making flowers last in a Kiwi summer helps if the bunch is going to a warm house.
Getting there and parking
The main entrance is off Omahu Road, while the emergency department is reached from Canning Road. Parking is pay-and-display (machines or the ParkMate app) on weekdays between 8am and 4pm, and free after 4pm on weekdays, at weekends and on public holidays. Drop-off areas at the emergency department and maternity are free, and there are mobility spaces near department entrances.
GoBay offers free public transport to and from the hospital, and Hato Hone St John volunteers run a health shuttle.
Cafe, chapel and what is on site
- Zac's Café is open 7am to 7pm on weekdays, and on weekends 7:45am to 2:30pm and 3pm to 7pm.
- The chapel is open from 8am until 5pm daily, and chaplains are available.
- An ATM is at the main entrance.
- Mihiroa Whare is the accommodation for families travelling to be with a patient.
Health NZ does not list a florist or gift shop here, so if you want to bring a small gift, the cafe is the nearest option. Still check with the ward before sending flowers.
Visiting the emergency department
The emergency department supports one parent, guardian or kaitiaki (care partner) with a patient. During busy periods other family members may be asked to wait outside to protect patients, so a short call to 06 878 8109 before you travel is sensible.
