Order flowersKerikeri is one of the largest horticultural areas in Northland. Grapes and citrus were first planted here in 1819, and commercial passionfruit growing began in 1927. About 8,380 people live in the urban area (June 2025 estimate). Growing things is part of Kerikeri's story – and that shapes a few practical points when you send flowers.

The Kerikeri Basin holds the Stone Store, New Zealand's oldest stone building, and the Mission House, the oldest surviving building in the country. If you are sending flowers to celebrate someone who loves local history, or to a visitor staying nearby, those landmarks are a good reference for the florist.
Kerikeri has a subtropical climate with mild winters, averaging around 11°C in July and 24°C in January. Warm, humid weather can shorten the life of cut flowers, so:
Our flower care guide has more tips.
With so much horticulture in the area, check whether the recipient's address is rural. Rural addresses carry an RD number where a suburb would normally go, written "RD 1" without dots, and the mailtown is where the rural round is based. Copy the address exactly as the recipient gives it. Rural addresses can take longer, and weekend delivery is limited in many rural areas.
Kerikeri has no hospital of its own in our data. Bay of Islands Hospital is on Hospital Road in Kawakawa and provides accident and emergency, maternity and other primary and secondary care for the area. The former Northland DHB has stated that flowers are delivered to the patient as soon as they arrive. That wording comes from an old archived page, so check with the ward before sending, and include the patient's full name and ward.
For a funeral in Kerikeri, send flowers to the funeral director or the service venue rather than to Kerikeri Cemetery itself, and include the full name of the person who has died and the date of the service. If the farewell is a tangihanga, read our guide to tangihanga and condolences first.
Sending to the regional seat too? See Whangārei.
Put the recipient’s ward, room or the funeral director’s name on the order so the florist can find them.
Busy days book out early, so order ahead for Kerikeri.
