Both provide aged residential care. Put the resident's full name and room on the order, and choose a compact arrangement in its own vase. Note the rest home's own spelling, 'Amberly', when you write the name.
Amberley holds an A&P (agricultural and pastoral) show once a year, usually in mid-spring. The 2026 show was on Saturday 31 October at the showgrounds, 50 Douglas Road. Amberley House, built in 1870–76, has extensive grounds and offers garden tours and weddings, so flowers here are often for a wedding or anniversary. Our seasonal flower calendar can help you choose.
Average highs are about 23 °C in January and February and 11 °C in July, which is also the wettest month at about 85 mm. In summer, add a phone number and a note about a shady spot; in winter, a covered porch. Our flower care guide explains how to keep flowers fresh.
Balcairn Cemetery, a Hurunui District Council cemetery south of Amberley in Balcairn, is on Balcairn Leithfield Road, reached via Mill Road from State Highway 1. It holds two Commonwealth war graves, one from each world war. In town, the Catholic Church of the Most Holy Passion was built in 1866 and moved to its State Highway 1 site in the 1950s, and Holy Innocents Anglican Church is on Church Street. Outside the council building stands a statue of Charles Upham, next to three limestone carvings, The Grandmothers. Funeral flowers are normally sent to the funeral home or the family; see our sympathy flower guide.
Many recipients live on farms or vineyards with RD addresses. Write them exactly as given; rural addresses can take longer, and weekend delivery is limited in many areas. If someone is a patient at Christchurch Hospital, the former Canterbury DHB has stated that flowers are not permitted anywhere in the hospital; the gift shops sell flower vouchers so flowers can be delivered when the patient goes home.
Put the recipient’s ward, room or the funeral director’s name on the order so the florist can find them.
Busy days book out early, so order ahead for Amberley.
