Order flowersWaihi is a Hauraki District town of about 5,850 people, with Waihi Beach ten kilometres to the east. Gold was found at what became the Martha Mine in 1878, and the town is still home to New Zealand's richest gold mine. Its climate is warm and temperate, with unusually high rainfall for the east coast – about 2,147 mm a year – and January is the warmest month, with a mean daily maximum of 24.3 °C.

In 2016 Hauraki District Council renumbered several Waihi streets – including Union Street, Rosemont Road, Seddon Avenue and Toomey Street – to meet NZ Post's needs and make addresses easier to find. If you are using an old address from a card or letter, check that the number is still right. A phone number for the recipient on your order helps too.
The Lions Club of Waihi Garden Ramble runs on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November 2026, from 9am to 4pm, opening 14 town and country gardens around Waihi, eight of them new this year; proceeds go to the Lions skin cancer screening bus. For a garden-lover in Waihi, flowers in the same week fit the mood – just remember weekend delivery is limited in many areas, so a weekday order is safer. Our seasonal flower guide shows what is good in spring.
Christmas at the Lake 2026, run by GO Waihi, is on Sunday 6 December from 2 to 6pm at Gilmour Lake Reserve, with stalls, bands and Santa's grotto.
Because Waihi Lifecare also has a birthing centre, new-baby flowers may be going to the same address as a rest-home resident, so name the person and say whether they are a new mum or a resident. Toomey Street was one of the renumbered streets, so use the current number, and check with the centre before sending flowers to a new mother.
Waihi Public Cemetery is about 3 km south of town on State Highway 2, about 250 m south of the Waihi Beach turning, and has a separate area for services' interments. About 400 war-grave plaques in the RSA section were to be cleaned and restored by volunteers – a project taken on by Waihi Heritage Vision, the Waihi Memorial RSA and Keep Waihi Beautiful. For Anzac Day tributes, see our Anzac Day guide.
Waihi Funeral Services, a family-owned business, is at Shop 1, 47 Seddon Street. For a funeral, ask the family or funeral director where flowers should go. Waihi has one marae, Waihi Community Marae. Nearby, see Paeroa and the Waikato region.
Put the recipient’s ward, room or the funeral director’s name on the order so the florist can find them.
Busy days book out early, so order ahead for Waihi.
