Order flowersEltham is South Taranaki's second-largest town and is known as the cradle of the Taranaki dairy industry – it was the first place in New Zealand to export butter to England, and in 2002 its water tank was painted as a giant block of cheese. About 2,120 people live in the urban area (June 2025 estimate), in the Taranaki region. State Highway 3 runs through town as High Street, linking Stratford (11 km north) with Ngaere, Normanby and Hāwera (19 km south). High Street and Bridge Street were the first tar-sealed roads in New Zealand.

Eltham Care Rest Home at 54 Maata Road has a 15-bed rest-home wing, a 17-bed secure dementia wing and 9 hospital-level beds, with views of Mount Taranaki. When sending flowers to a resident, include their full name and, if you know it, the wing. A compact arrangement in a vase is easiest for staff, and for the dementia wing a simple, stable arrangement may suit best. Check with the home if the resident is unwell.
Eltham has no hospital. The nearest is Hāwera Hospital at 37 Hunter Street, Hāwera, 19 km south, with a 24-hour emergency department. We have not found a published flower rule for it, so check with the ward before sending and give the patient's full name and ward. See our Hāwera page for more.
Eltham Cemetery on Anderson Road is administered by South Taranaki District Council, and burial warrants are issued at Eltham LibraryPlus. For a funeral, send flowers to the funeral director or the service venue rather than to the cemetery, with the full name of the person who has died and the date and time of the service. Our funeral flower etiquette guide covers card wording.
Hollard Gardens, at 1686 Upper Manaia Road in Kaponga, 13 km west of Eltham, is a Taranaki Regional Council garden open all day, every day. Lake Rotokare, 12 km east, sits in a 230-ha scenic reserve – the country's largest wetland and lake habitat inside a predator-proof fence. The 2026 Taranaki Fringe Garden Festival ran from 30 October to 8 November across home gardens in the region. For a keen gardener, a seasonal bunch or a potted plant fits well; our guide to flowers in season helps you choose.
For dairy-farm addresses around Eltham, use the RD number exactly as the recipient writes it, add a phone number, and allow extra time.
Put the recipient’s ward, room or the funeral director’s name on the order so the florist can find them.
Busy days book out early, so order ahead for Eltham.
