Flowers across Tāmaki Makaurau, the Auckland region

The Auckland region, Tāmaki Makaurau, is New Zealand's largest by population, with about 1,816,000 people (Stats NZ estimate, June 2025), and is run by a single unitary council. It runs from Wellsford in the north, the northernmost major settlement in the region, to Pukekohe and Waiuku in the south, and out to the islands of the Hauraki Gulf. Delivery to a central suburb and to an island are very different things, so here is how the region breaks down.

The city and its rose gardens

Most people live in the main urban area, covered on our Auckland flower delivery page. The city takes flowers seriously: Parnell Rose Gardens has more than 5,000 roses, and the Parnell Festival of Roses is held there each November (in 2026 on Sunday 8 November). Auckland Botanic Gardens in Manurewa holds more than 10,000 plants, including a camellia collection with International Camellia Garden of Excellence status.

North, west and south of the city

  • Hibiscus Coast: Orewa, Silverdale and the Whangaparāoa Peninsula, named in the 1960s after the hibiscus flower.
  • Warkworth, with its spring Kōwhai Festival beside the Mahurangi River, plus Wellsford further north.
  • Kumeū-Huapai, Riverhead and Helensville in the north-west, where the Kumeū and Helensville A&P shows draw big crowds.
  • Pukekohe, known for market gardens on fertile volcanic land, and Waiuku by the Manukau Harbour.
  • Beachlands-Pine Harbour on the Pōhutukawa Coast, east of the city.

We also cover smaller places such as Snells Beach and Maraetai; order with the full street address.

Waiheke and Great Barrier: island deliveries

Waiheke Island is reached by passenger ferry from downtown Auckland to Matiatia (about 40 minutes), and by a vehicle and freight ferry between Half Moon Bay and Kennedy Point (about 50 to 60 minutes). Everything sent to the island, flowers included, has to cross the water first.

Great Barrier Island, Aotea, lies about 100 km north-east of central Auckland, and its residents live off the grid. For both islands, order well in advance, and expect island deliveries to take longer than a city order.

Hospitals and hospice care

Rules differ across the city. Middlemore Hospital bans flowers only in its National Burn Centre, while North Shore and Waitākere hospitals ask visitors not to bring flowers or plants at all. Tōtara Hospice in Manurewa has advised that flowers can be sent to patients in its Inpatient Unit. Always check with the ward before sending.

Rural Auckland addresses

Rural addresses work a little differently. NZ Post's own example comes from Auckland: rural addresses in Piha are serviced from New Lynn, so their mailtown and postcode are New Lynn 0772. Copy the address exactly as the recipient gives it, including the RD number. Rural addresses can take longer.

Florists also deliver to smaller places such as Snells Beach, Maraetai.
